Homemade Chicken Broth is a fairly quick crockpot recipe. It could take as little as 5 hours, but, you will know for sure when you start to smell the goodness all through the house.

Homemade Chicken Broth Recipe
Ingredients
- Chicken bones and skin
- 2 big carrots (mine were frozen)
- 4 celery ribs
- 2 small onions (or 1 big one)
- 1 whole garlic bulb
- 1 TBS Kosher salt
- 2 TBS whole pepper kernels
- 3 Bay leaves
- 5-6 cups of water, or until ingredients are covered

Instructions
- Set the bones and skin on the bottom of my crockpot
- Break two big frozen carrot sticks in half and lay them on top of the bones, do that again with the celery ribs and the chicken bones and fat will be “stuck at the bottom” of everything- nothing will float up and move around.
- Toss in 2 small onions,
- 1 garlic bulb
- 1-2 TBS Salt- I use course salt
- Some whole pepper corns ( I didn’t measure salt or pepper)
- 2-3 bay leaves
- Covered it all with water. I set up my “station” near the sink so that I can use the hose to fill it with water. (I’m lazy)… Adding water last makes it easier to add the bones, the seasonings, and the veggies.
- Put the crock pot on HIGH and let it do the rest.

5 Best Things about Homemade Chicken Broth
- It’s super easy! Chicken broth takes less time than beef bone broth, but once you add the ingredients together, all you need to do is check it to make sure there is enough water in the crockpot base.
- You don’t even need to chop, mince or separate any of the vegetables! You might need to break some carrots or celery in half if they are too long for your crockpot, but there is no chopping required!
- You can make the bone broth as seasoned or plain as you want. I prefer to add seasoning to my broth recipes because then it adds extra flavor to all the recipes that I need- or I can skip seasoning later. If you choose to skip seasoning in this recipe, that’s totally fine. It’s just as healthy.
- If you are pressed for time, you can always place the beef bone in the crockpot or stove while you’re making your recipe. It will taste just as delicious! Trust me, you can always make this recipe on the stove if you don’t have a crockpot. PLUS It cooks much more quickly. Then you can add what you need to your recipe and store the rest in your mason jars.
